The Young Indians (Yi) Mangaluru Chapter hosted Youth Parliament at the KCCI Chamber Hall, Bunder, on 11th and 12th of July 2025. The program commenced with a warm welcome by the Chapter Chair of Yi Mangaluru, CA Salome Lobo Pereira. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, Capt. Brijesh Chowta.Mr. P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, Vice President, emphasized the critical role of civic participation in nation-building. Ms. M. Athmika Amin, Immediate Past Chair of Yi Mangaluru and Regional Mentor for Climate Change, delivered an engaging talk on the _urgency of addressing climate change.

Throughout the day, the students from The Bharath Academy, Nalanda English Medium School, and PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Mangaluru, showcased their ability to think critically, discuss constructively, and work collaboratively on some of the most pressing issues of our time.

Chapter Mentor Ashith B Hegde, and YI Members Shohan J Shetty, Ashrika Amin, Aajeeth Kumar, Aditya Pai, Past CII Chair Gaurav Hegde were present. The Event was compered by Mrs Disha Prabhu, who is also a Young Indians Member.

The Youth Parliament was designed to simulate real parliamentary proceedings, giving young minds the exposure to simulated challenges and opportunities in governance and policy making.

Students discussed and shared their opinions on topics such as employment and entrepreneurship, health and well-being, climate change and sustainable development, social justice and human rights, and sports and youth development.

This initiative by Young Indians Organisation gave more than 100 students from grades 9 to 12 a platform to experience the parliament procedure, engage in debates on national issues, and help to understand the responsibilities of citizens as leaders.

From our Nalanda English Medium School, V.T.Road, Mangalore 10 students among grade 9th and 10th had participated in the youth parliament program. Two teachers Ms. Monica Rani and Mrs. Shilpa Rao accompanied the students. Our students gained the fruitful learning experience through this youth parliament program.

As a teacher I really appreciate the initiative by the young Indians organisation to conduct a simulated parliament session for the young students. Students will definitely be able to realise the importance of the role of every citizen in policy making and hence be a part of nation building.

The Event Chair, Ashish Rai, and Shilpa Ghorpade ensured the event functioned smoothly. The simulation Parliament was concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Durgadas Shetty, Co – chair person of Young Indians team, Mangalore. And Students were rewarded and participation certificates were given during valedictory ceremony.

Thereafter the valedictory ceremony was concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Shrikanth Vasani, member of Young Indians team, Mangalore.
